Media Release: Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission Hosts Worth It! Coffee Break with Cabin Radio

5th Dec 2017

Yellowknife, NT (December 5, 2017) – From 11:30am to 1:00pm on Wednesday December 6th, the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) will host a Worth It! coffee break with Cabin Radio at the corner of Franklin Avenue and 49th Street, directly in front of the Post Office.

Worth It! is a WSCC campaign aimed at highlighting the importance of workplace safety on a more personal level. Throughout the campaign, we have asked the public the following questions: “Why is safety worth it to you? What makes being safe at work worth it at the end of the day?” Whether it is as simple as getting home safe, spending time with loved ones, or looking ahead to being healthy and whole for retirement, everyone has something or someone they want to stay safe for – that makes safety worth it.

“The holidays are often a busy time. It is so easy to rush through your day and forget about taking important safety precautions, but ultimately, keeping safety top of mind allows us to enjoy a happy and safe holiday season with those we love,” says Dave Grundy, WSCC President and CEO. “Let’s start these conversations on workplace safety and talk about why safety is important as we head into the holiday season.”

The public is invited to join Cabin Radio and the WSCC on Wednesday at Franklin and 49th Street for a cup of coffee, and to share upcoming holiday plans, hopes for 2018, and why safety is important and worth it to them.

Continue the conversation with us online by visiting @WSCCNTNU on Twitter and Facebook, and using the hashtag #WorthIt.
